Vegetated facade for residential building proposal

Vegetated facade for residential building proposal

Location: Panama

Petitioner: ARQ21

Year: 2011

Working together with the Architects ARQ21 Seville we have collaborated in developing urban greening solutions for a residential building proposal in Panama. This residential building is intended to provide an alternative to the housing problem in Central America, to build a large number of houses in an optimal sustainable habitat. To meet these needs, ARQ21 poses a high rise building with all the amenities for comfortable living, minimising environmental impact thanks to the inclusion of alternative energy sources.

1. 30 floors of apartments of two and three bedroom apartments with balconies and a service area.

2. Gardens and community recreation area with swimming pools and sports courts.

3. Gym, meetings and parties, bar and barbecue area.

4. Commercial ground floor

5. Parking for residents and commercial area customers.

Each floor is divided into 10 apartments and a total count of 300, designed for families with 2 or 3 children, with quarters of 12 m. We have seen the need to provide two fully equipped bathrooms, a laundry room, along with a large terrace to fully enjoy the mild climates of these countries.

Both in this building residential and business center, the architects have studied various ways to use different types of renewable energy, to achieve a sustainable building. We aim to lower energy consumption by installing solar panels on the front to obtain electricity. Natural vegetation will also be used to achieve better controlled ventilation and temperature moderation, besides the natural purification pools.
