Urban Greening, vertical gardens and deck elements in new headquarters of the Biosphere Reserve

Location: Lanzarote (Canary Islands)

Petitioner: AMMD Architects, Montse Recaséns Diaz and Antonio Martín Molina

Year: 2011

The proposed study led by AMMD Architects , Montserrat Antonio Recaséns Diaz and Martin Molina, submitted to the contest for the future site of the Biosphere Reserve in Lanzarote, has a series of bioclimatic design strategies. These strategies have been developed in collaboration with Terapia Urbana, the most notable area is the external passive vertical garden located on the west side of the building, and the unique elements of urban greening employed as an inverted umbrella on the deck. This project is an example of ways in which areas can actively participate in sustainable approaches.
